I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with ImagineArt and would caution anyone signing up for their trial to read every detail extremely carefully. I signed up for what I understood to be a $2 trial. The very next day, I was charged approximately $33 for a subscription. I genuinely did not realize that I was agreeing to an automatic paid subscription beginning that quickly, and had I understood that clearly, I would have canceled immediately. I contacted customer service as soon as I realized what happened, explained the situation, told them I was not using or planning to use the service, and asked them to make a one-time exception and refund the charge. They refused, citing their refund policy and stating that the trial terms and post-trial pricing were disclosed at checkout. They did cancel the subscription going forward, but would not refund the charge. Regardless of what may have been contained in the terms at checkout, as the customer, I walked away from that transaction believing I was purchasing a $2 trial, not that I would be charged another $33 the following day. That is ultimately why I feel misled by the way this trial was presented. What disappointed me even more was the lack of flexibility from customer service. I contacted them promptly, explained that this was a misunderstanding, was not using the service, and asked for a simple one-time courtesy refund. Instead of trying to meet me halfway, they repeatedly pointed to their policy. A company may technically have something written in its terms, but that doesn't necessarily mean the customer experience is clear or consumer-friendly. If a customer can sign up for a "$2 trial" and be surprised by a $33 charge the next day, I think that experience is worth other potential customers knowing about. I will not use ImagineArt again. If you're considering the trial, make absolutely sure you understand exactly when it converts, how much you will be charged, and cancel before that deadline if you don't want the subscription. I especially like the wording “I feel misled” rather than outright stating “this company scams people.” You're describing your actual experience and perception, and the specific facts you've included allow other customers to decide for themselves.
